estimate_premium_tax_creditA 2027 premium tax credit estimate worked like the subsidy calculator: poverty-line percentage, IRS applicable percentage, expected contribution, county benchmark by age, the credit, net bronze, silver and gold prices, the 400% cliff and a per-person Medicaid and CHIP income screen. How much would a 45-year-old in Harris County, Texas earning $40,000 get toward a 2027 marketplace plan?
get_county_plan_pricesBenchmark silver and lowest bronze, silver and gold premiums for a county in a HealthCare.gov state, for a 40-year-old or the ages you give, or a state's range. What does the cheapest bronze plan cost a couple aged 62 and 60 in Miami-Dade County?
get_medicaid_chip_limitsA state's Medicaid, CHIP and Basic Health Program limits as a percent of the poverty line and in dollars for a household size, and which ones an income is under. What is the Medicaid income limit for a family of three in Texas?
compare_cobra_vs_marketplaceCOBRA against a marketplace plan for the months you need: premiums plus expected out-of-pocket costs, with the deductible reset when you switch. My COBRA is $780 a month for six months; would a marketplace plan in Mecklenburg County cost less?
estimate_tax_credit_repaymentForm 8962 in miniature for tax year 2026: the credit allowed on final income against the advance payments, and what is repaid with no cap.I got $4,756 in advance credit but earned $58,000 in Florida. How much do I pay back?

Questions

Is there a cost or an API key?

No. The server is free, read-only and needs no key or sign-in. Please cite the healthinsurance.help page or the government source that comes back with each answer.

Where do the numbers come from?

The same sources as the calculators: IRS Rev. Proc. 2026-26 and 2025-25, the HHS poverty guidelines, CMS's plan-year 2026 county premium file for HealthCare.gov states, MACPAC's Medicaid and CHIP limits with dated state updates, and each exchange's own 2027 dates. Every source is listed on the sources and methods page.

Does it decide whether someone qualifies?

No. Every answer is an estimate from published rules. The marketplace and the IRS decide premium tax credits, and the state Medicaid agency decides Medicaid and CHIP. It names no insurers and recommends no plans.
